Musical Weekend in Bristol

My Husband and I escaped to Bristol for the weekend without the kids, primarily to see my most favourite band perform their first album as a Birthday present to me. I had secured an apartment in the very cool Clare street called Higgihaus Aparthotel right in the cultural area of Bristol. We arrived on a friday and had a walk and a drink around the harbour. That evening I had booked a tasting menu at Bulrush Restaurant which was a short walk away from the apartment, a bit uphill mind however this meant that coming home was a downhill jaunt which was most pleasing. This restaurant did not disappoint. A one Michelin Star restaurant we had a delighfull dinner paired with an exquisite wine flight, which elevated the meal to the next level. The focus of the menu is locally foraged ingredients and as such the artistry of the menu feels like each course takes you on some wild walk in the British Isles. My absolute favourite dish was the Scallop, Spruce and Salsify which reminded me of the walk to Holkham Bay through the fir trees onto the beach. The food was so evocative and utterly delicious.
After a decent sleep and delicious lie in we had breakfast at the Cosy Club, which felt opulent and lined our stomachs well as we were about to embark on a day festival called Ritual Union.
This one day festival is spread over three venues and you can hop about to see various new and upcoming acts. One of the venues was in Rough Trade, so we couldn't leave without getting some more vinyl to add to our collection.
We couldn't stay till the end though as we had to go to Bristol Beacon to see Spiritualized. Wow that was an amazing venue for sound and only a short walk from our apartment.
We finished our weekend looking around the shops and all the street art in Bristol. This was a great escape and think we may come here again this time next year to indulge in music all over again.
